We had a cat as a kid that got lost in weather a bit colder than this. A day and a bit later my sister and dad found it huddled up under someone's balcony, chilly and hungry, but no worse for wear and very happy to be home. Not helpful, but tell you're friend they are pretty hardy little buggers.
