A cat that is sick and can't have a proper quality of life, should be put down. If you don't have a BBQ and want one, you don't get to trade your cat for it. If he/she has cancer, you likely put them down. If they aren't as cute as they were when they were a kitten, sorry, you have to keep the cat.
