There are quite a few people that badly want Baertschi to succeed and they will point out the simplest thing he does as being good. That's fine, but it doesn't mean he performed well in context. Sven's problem is he doesn't do those good things every shift, so having a good first period doesn't mean a hill of beans if he doesn't follow it up with a good second and a good third. You have to weigh performance as a whole, not just snippets here and there. Was there minor improvement? Yeah, he showed more jump in the first few shifts. Was it enough to call it a good performance? No, because he couldn't follow up those shifts when given opportunity down the line. The most important thing for Baertschi is to go out and play like his hair is on fire every time his name is called. Didn't happen tonight, no matter how badly you want to believe it did.
