On the other hand, last night was a good reminder of what it takes to be an consistent NHLer for Gaudreau. Washington is a big, well coached and structured team. I know he had the flu and all that. It is a fine line between being a magician with the puck but still making the right play as an NHLer.
That OT giveaway was a great example. Two guys bearing down on him, he peels back like he always does and loses the puck. Scoring chance goes the other way. That puck should have been deep.
I'm not worried about him at all, if anything he has shown that he has a superhuman ability to learn and adapt at a breakneck pace. His ability to make a difference in tighter games like this as well as wide open games like against MTL will be very important.
