Thought I'd share a few thoughts back in this thread as it was quite useful for my trip planning.
- The Poke Bowls at Safeway are the best deal on the island. Think of an 7" bowl 4" high packed with rice, with the top 1.5" all Poke for a mere $6.99. You are stuffed and this is by far the best value on the island.
Lots of options too:
Be sure to bring you Safeway Club card as some times it's off. One thing I'd recommend - they make the Poke in the morning so both Tuna and Salmon are absolutely amazing at lunch. For dinner however, I'd stick to the salmon as Tuna generally doesn't last as long as the salmon and got a bit fishy at dinner.
Costco also had poke, but it's a pretty far drive back to Kannapali for it to stay fresh. The booze selection at Costco is crazy, never seen that much.
Had breakfast at Slappy Cakes - the tables have a griddle built into them so you can cook pancakes yourself. Neat and fun for the kids but it is pretty expensive. Pancakes for 2 + 4 cups of French Press Coffee and a side of bacon came to $44 + tip.
Sansei sushi had the most amazing ramen I've had in a while. Crab with truffle oil ramen. Absolutely delicious.
