That said, I think they should change the rule so that an action like that results in an awarded goal AND an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. An awarded goal at the very least. What Leggio did is conduct detrimental to the game.

Really, no different than when Avery tried to use his glove to blind goalies. It's really a shame that there needs to be a rule written down to stop players from doing something everyone knows is pathetic. It's not like Leggio was the first goalie to ever think it would be better to just knock the net off. Most just have more respect for the game than to do something childish like that.
