I suspect Iginla's buddy Sakic had a big say in it. One thing about the former superstar players is once they get into management they seem to have a soft spot for aging stars and the old-boys' club. Just look at the Olympic teams Gretzky put together.

True enough. I do recall Brian Sutter calling him out early in his career, but once Iginla became the team, he was bigger than any coach and that was huge problem. It appears his career has come full circle.
