The only reason anyone is surprised by this is because nobody in Calgary - coaches, GMs, media, anyone - could publicly say a bad word about Iginla for his last 8 years here. You had to read between the lines (
the answers are in the room) to perceive any criticism of is play.
I'm just glad the Flames have a culture now where nobody is above criticism.

I suspect Iginla's buddy Sakic had a big say in it. One thing about the former superstar players is once they get into management they seem to have a soft spot for aging stars and the old-boys' club. Just look at the Olympic teams Gretzky put together.
