In general I find that adult hockey is WAY to serious. Honestly, aside from skill related jabs etc do you really need to go further? Every beer league game has ZERO meaning on life - its just a rec game. The extent some guys take it is dumbfounding. The last thing i want to do at 12:00 on a Tuesday evening is be run up by some ass-hat with a full cage on. As a general observation as well, the worse the caliber of player, the higher the ###### factor. don't see much BS in div 1/2...when it happens its usually ends in a fight. Div 4/5...well that's a bunch of over dressed tough guys with little respect for anyone on the ice.
For later-aged kids who potentially have somewhere to go with there hockey careers then its a different standard for me. Attack the player for anything you want, just make sure its about the player/team not a blanket statement about something else (eg race).
