in the men's league i play we've had a few 'incidents'
one was with my team. we've got an east indian guy on my team and the other team definitely crossed the line. one guy was going on that he should probably get out of the rink becuz he'll be late for his shift at 7-11. then another guy was "trying to hail a cab" from the bench. the straw that broke the camel's back was a pack1 comment or something like that. a line brawl ensued.
all 3 guys from the other team got suspended (two for the rest of the season, the other for a few games). one of my guys got suspended for threaten a guy while in the penalty box - it was ugly.
another incident (not with my team) was two guys had been going back and forth for a bit. the one guy was at the point while the other guy was on the bench. the dude on the bench made some kind of comment that the other guy 'better make sure his front door is locked tight becuz he was going to come over and rape his daughter'. yea.... that didn't end well. the guy who said it was tossed from the league
there have been other 'race' things said and the offender is always suspended for at least the remainder of the season, if not longer. they don't want that crap in the league
one of the worst groups for way over the top chirping is the women's divisions. my jaw dropped a couple of times while score keeping their games.
on a different level, i've asked a couple nhler's about chirping and i've heard the recurring theme.... you get your idiots like avery, burrows, etc. that constantly run their mouths, but other than that, the only guys that chirp a lot are usually the young kids. the players that have been in the league for a while realize they need to grow up.... and put up or shut up!
