Default "Chirpin" - What crosses "the line"

I wasnt sure which forum to put this in or even if its been discussed before.

I want to talk about 'chirpin" in a hockey game.
Is there a point in time where the back and forth of words crosses a line? Is there a line.

I ask, because during a recent minor hockey game between midget players, the talk I heard from players almost made my jaw drop. In fact, I didnt think that it could get quite that bad. I'm not talking about "your mother forgot her wallet on my dressor" type comments. It was downright vicious to a point where they were making questionable comments about a player that got hurt.

So I ask you, is there a line? Where does it stop and become totally disrespectful and at what point should the referee start handing out unsportsmenlike penalties for it?
