I just don't get how players like him continually get drilled so hard so often. Yes, he will always be a 'target' as he is the best player on the team, but it does seem he will unfortunately have a short career if he doesn't start learning to watch out for guys eager to lay him out.
He has been amazingly resilient so far, and I hope he isn't seriously hurt. However, he can't assume he will just continue to bounce back up or just take a couple of weeks off every year the odd time he gets hurt. These hits are going to add up.

It's not really that hard to get... He just thinks he's big enough and fast enough to power through/around everybody.
This is his 5th year in the league and he still plays like he is in junior.
Just look at the huge hit he took from Ellis last week... Head down while trying to toe drag through his legs against an NHL defencemen. He was lucky it was the smallest guy on the team lining him up for that hit rather than weber or jones or volchenkov... It would have been another 30+lbs. and the hit would likely have got his head.
I've said this before... I honestly believe he is one of the most skilled forwards with an extremely low hockey IQ. That speaks to his wreckless style of play and him being prone to such stupid decisions in the defensive zone. It's like the forward equivalent of Dion Phaneuf.
