Yea, I think 2 games in the NHL all year sent him over the edge.
I believe he was trying to ask Oilers Management for a one way contract this season in hopes of being a 3 or 4th liner with the Oilers and spending less time in the AHL because he already proved he was a strong player during the 2013-14 season and they laughed and said he'd get a 2 way and that he was going to be a foundation piece for the AHL team.
He left to one of the worst teams in the KHL to get top minutes and prove himself. So far, so good. His faceoff % is pretty decent and he's been a scoring machine. Hopefully his rights will be traded at the end of this season (KHL contract expires in April 2015) and he'll get another chance.
