I'm not buying that this is some kind of sexualization of these girls for profit. I'm sorry maybe that makes me old, maybe that makes me somehow perverse. But first and foremost the comparison between the F and I girls and Hooters girls in my opinion is a bit ludicrous.
Hooters girls dress in a really over sexualized manner, Their outfits are absolutely designed to be sexy and elicit a certain response.

In terms of the marketing concept with Hooters, they dress these girls up in provocative outfits and then train these girls to flirt at an incredible level with their male customers, sit with them and almost have pupil to pupil relations with them. That's sexualization, whether its exploitation or not is a debate for a whole other thread. But there's no doubt why people go to Hooters and its not for their below average food or watered down beer.
For the Fire and Ice Girls, are the uniforms sexy? Sure, but no more sexy then I see when I go to the gym or walk down the 8th avenue mall. Lets take a look, and I'll spoiler tag it not to offend.
Now last time I checked, the Fire and Ice girls were shoveling err ice, they weren't dancing around the ice making flirtatious dance moves making long eye contact with fans. I mean seriously how many people are buying tickets to the game to watch these girls shovel ice?
Its adding a little color and flash to the game but its not a primary, omg the Flames are marketing smut.
If the lady that wrote that letter was angry about this, she must be furious about

I mean seriously those figure skaters don't need to dress up in koochie wear and have long looks at the audience while exposing themselves.
I mean lets get serious, I doubt that the Flames see any kind of down tick like "Hey you know Billy, the Fire and Ice Girls are going to be wearing pants next year instead of shorts", "Well that's it Jack I'm cancelling my tickets".
These girls are willing to do this, they aren't spinning around poles while skating around in overly lust inducing outfits, they're skating around and clearing snow.
The lady who wrote the letter has a really big problem if she's offended by the Fire and Ice girls and think its corrupting girls and young children everywhere.
Its not a central marketing concept for the Flames where they're selling sex to get you to the game.
The whole thing is quite silly and stupid, and some people are getting so caught in the external reputation of looking like a crusader for all that's good and respectful and all that in the world that they've actually gone over the line to a near puritan mind set.
