Blame the NHLPA as well, they don't take injuries to their membership seriously, either.

Now that I'm getting older, the more these leagues are unwilling to punish their players for things that are clearly against the rules, the less interested I am in watching them.

It's about credibility, and the NHL has precious little at this point in regards to player injuries. This bleeds into other aspects of the game. Is anyone surprised we've seen more blatant and egregious nutshots in the last 6 months than in the last 6 years? OF course not, the league refused to police the incidents.

This is more of the same.

While i'm on my soapbox I strongly dislike how the league uses financial penalty to remedy a foul on the ice. The infraction occurs on the ice and the punishment should reflect that.

If you are suspended your team should be down a roster spot, plain and simple. They'll do it for a domestic violence charge but not for a targeted malicious hit.
