It doesn't matter whether it's team Canada or St. Louis or Calgary, a #5 defenseman isn't considered a significant role. That's like saying Engelland plays a significant role on our team. You could've replaced Bouwmeester with any number of players and Team Canada would've still won those games.
If you guys really want to stick it to me bump this thread in May when Bouwmeester helps lead St. Louis to the Western Conference final, which was my original point.
