How long are you going to be in San Fran, and what route are you taking? Also check out the weather forecast.

If it's going to be no higher than 15 and going for less than 2 weeks, leave winters on.
If it's going to be no higher than 20 and going for less than 1 week, leave winters on.
If going through BC, leave winters on.
