Ive always been under the impression (and watched videos) that it takes a few seconds for the officer to get the reading. The moment the laser hits the detector I am alerted and have a small window to slow down to bring that officers reading down. TBH, I have no idea but mine has worked for me. Of course going 200km/h it is going to be useless but if your 15km/h over and can slow it down 10km/h in a matter of seconds I think it works out.

Have you never had a speeding ticket? It's not that people challenge speed limits as much as it is 100km/h drops to 80 and you dont realize as the surroundings hasn't changed or your on deerfoot and what feels like 110 is 125 because so very few people are on the road.
1 speeding ticket avoided by a radar detector pays for itself when considering insurance and the ticket price.
