1p1 has a bigger screen 5.5 inches versus 5.2 inches for the sony, bottom facing mono speakers.
Sony has front facing stereo speakers (probably the second best on the market behind the HTC one M8 but thats before hearing the Nexus 6's speakers)
1p1 has 16 or 64 gb memory options with no memory slot while the sony comes in 16 or 32 gb memory with a micro SD slot to expand storage.
Both have the same guts , same amount of RAM (3GB).
Sony has a 20 mp camera (2.2 mp in the front) while 1p1 has a 13 mp camera (5 mp in the front).
90% glass body for the sony, replaceable back casing for the 1p1.
3100 mah battery for both. close call between the two on which uses less during a charge though.
I wont chime in on the software but I think both are close to sock android with Cyanogen being the more open and more customizable of the two.
EDIT: and the obvious non-contract price differences. $350 for the 64 gb 1p1 and $700 off contract for the Z3.
