Colborne had a nagging wrist injury that prevented him from performing to his capabilities.
I forget who it was, but someone analysed his performance in the AHL and NHL (before becoming a Flame) when he had the injury and when he didn't. Essentially, he was a PPG player in the AHL (or even better) when he wasn't injured.
He had surgery on his wrist before being traded to Calgary, and when he started with the club, he was healed up.
In 89 games with the Flames, he has 36 pts. In 84 games, Sean Monahan has 38 points. I know Monahan is 4 years younger, but they were both rookies last year.
Give Joe, a former first rounder, the chance to establish himself (which he is undoubtedly doing this season). I think he has the potential to be an all-around 50+ point guy who plays PP and PK.
