Default New York Islanders 15/16 Season Thread

Post from 8 months ago

First of all, thanks to the Commishes for being open to having me re-join the league. I didn't realize how much I missed it until I came back.

State of the Isles

On paper this team is not good.

FORWARDS
Read - Fisher - Ott
Cole - McClement - Fehr
Neil - Bouchard - Smith
Glass - McKegg - Kobasew

Fehr, Ott, Fisher, Read and Oduya all have decent asset value up front.

DEFENSE
Oduya - Allen
Strait - Rozsival
Pardy - Ellerby

Oduya is definitely our best defender, and him and Allen are by far the two best assets.

GOALIE
Andersson
Francois-Berube

Craig Andersson will be the reason the Isles do well. He's starting in OTT too so at least we have a solid #1 tender.

PROSPECTS

This team had very few prospects, no 1st rounder for 15' and 16', and very few assets on the CPHL team to show for lack of prospects. So this will be a work in progress to build up a pool of prospects.

So far we have the following:

1) Jason Dickinson - Captain of Guelph Storm, power forward
2) Nick Paul - involved in Spezza deal
3) Jamie Oleksiak - 6'7 giant playing full time with the Stars this year
4) Jason Zucker - playing full time with the Wild now
5) Adam Lowry - Playing full time on the 3rd line with the Jets
6) Brian Dumoulin - Almost made Pens, great moving 6'3 d-man
7) Joey Hishon - Bit of a forgotten prospect, high end offense but needs to show it
8) Dane Fox - Huge offensive output last year, rising Canucks prospect
9) Cameron Gaunce - First call up for the Stars defense, strong on the back end.
10) Andreas Johnson - Late pick in 13' won SweHL Rookie of the Year last year

We are lacking a true Blue-Chip prospect but have a number of Tier 2 prospects that can be part of building long-term for the Isles.

Isles Direction

We like making deals. I will be icing the most competitive team I can, especially based on SIM performance so far. But I simply want to make trades that help build out the organization's assets.

We plan on building out our prospect pool and icing an improving CPHL team. We'll see if we can do those in tandem or not given the assets.

We have the luxury in the CPHL of making a million trades, unlike the GM's in the NHL. So knowing that, I plan on trading a lot, meeting new GM's, and re-connecting with old ones.
