Hidden from whom? The general public. It is a well known and oft repeated fact that the 2005 draft lottery was overseen by a well respected accounting firm, and personally attended by representatives from every team in the NHL.
There is and never has been any draft lottery conspiracy. A significant number of NHL teams simply would not stand for it.
