Hartley isn't out to get Gaudreau, nor does he want him to fail. Like many have posted, Hartley's job is to win hockey games and he will play whatever players he thinks will help him win.
And I have absolutely no problem with him protecting Gaudreau and taking it slowly and making Gaudreau earn his ice-time. That is the right way to do it.
Also, Colborne and Raymond are good hockey players, no question about it.
However, there is such a thing as chemistry and it is pretty clear that they don't click as a line.
I don't have any tinfoil on my head, but I would like to see Gaudreau moved to Monahan's line for a while to see how it goes. They have had chemistry in the past and what is the risk/cost of giving it a try?
No risk, big potential reward.
You have to try players with different line-mates to see what works - this is true with ALL players.
