I don't know how I feel about this show.

I really want to watch it because of the historical context, but man, some of the side stories

Do the showrunners realize how non-engaging the whole Liao storyline is? When you have to go back and retrofit relationship depth with a character you killed, it's probably a good sign that there wasn't enough development of the character to make them interested and cared about.
