Definitely Trevor Van Reimsdyk's stick shaft...
I got home from work and watched the DVR...I had been following your game thread from work.
Yes, Hiller was good, but I was more impressed with your TEAM D. A lot of shot blocks, nearly 30, I think, and even more impressive, was the ability of your guys to tie up 'Hawk sticks. It seemed, to me, that Hiller spit out a LOT of rebounds, but, the 'Hawks failed to get a lot of 2nd chances.
Hiller seemed calm and big, and positionally sound, a lot of 'Hawk shots hit him, whether he saw them or not.
For my guys, Carbomb chunked THREE different chances at a weak side post goal! Also, the 'Hawks were guilty of being too "cute", overpassing down low to get a "perfect" goal.
Crawford was solid...but, Calgary definitely earned the points.
There was a lot of complaining on the game thread on the officiating...I didn't think that ANY of the calls were "phantom" calls...the new rule on diving D-Men is clear...the clearly BLOWN calls were late...and I do HATE that refs put the whistle in their pockets in the 3rd. Kane clearly was guilty of hooking, and some of the subtle picks certainly need to be called. In the end, the 'Hawks overpassed in all their PP chances.
On the Shaw goal...the stick seemed to start over the bar...but, I couldn't tell where his stick was, in relation to the crossbar, when he actually touched the puck, as the motion of the stick was downward as the puck was on the way...tough call that I've seen called both ways, over the years. Staying with the call on the ice, was typical, and I can't say was either wrong or right.
You guys and gals should be proud of your guys for battling through a flat start, and being efficient with your offensive opportunities.
And someone needs to get Byron some snakebite treatment...so close on a couple breakaways!
We will catch you next time our teams meet...
