Agreed. I was affected by the flood and if I heard someone griping about being on vacation and not getting Free Flood Days Off!, I'd want to punch that person in the nose. And I'd think he/she is an a$$hole, forever.
Same thing if this fire had me out of my house for a week.
Anyone who spends vacation time fretting about co-workers getting three days off because of a fire is probably doing vacation wrong.
