If Gaudreau struggles with production and someone from the farm emerges (hoping for Baertschi), I would expect management to rotate them. They really need to validate to the prospects, whether on the farm or in the NHL, that there is competition for their job.
Some of the expectations are way out of line. This will be a developmental season for Gaudreau, as should be the case. It isn't realistic to expect him to graduate from college prospect to NHL player without a transition period.
