Assuming he stays up until medically cleared to play, there are many benefits. First he draws an NHL paycheck, and the Flames have more cushion (albeit small) from the cap floor, in case they are trading salary at the deadline.

It's also good that he is under the care of Flames doctors. I also would not like to see him under billet care or inconsistent care during rehab. It's in the Flames and Bennett's best interests to ensure rehab is done right. It will also get Bennett into an NHL wourkout routine.
