It's not an extreme judgement, it's obvious. Colborne likes to play north south, drive the net and build up speed on rushes through the neutral zone. Johnny likes to skate around players and moves side to side extremely fast and it's how he gets around people whereas Colborne shields the puck with his leg and his reach.

It's a bad combo because neither compliments each other, they won't be able to pass back and forth much because their styles are opposite. When Johnny passes to Joe he will be standing still and when Colborne tries to pass he'll be moving north and Johnny will have to mirror the same speed and motion or they'll be offside/kill the scoring chances. Hudler and Monahan are much better complimentary players for Johnny's style and will make it possible to elude players left to right. Colborne would be perfect with Raymond because they both play north south and can generate scoring chances driving the net. A strictly north south guy with a dominantly east west guy will make for a lot of starting and stopping, lacking flow and tempo and generally making it hard to score. Why I think that eventually Colborne and Raymond wind up together, they are a perfect combo. Speed, size and a good shot driving the net.
