He is close and will be up with the team at some point before Christmas, maybe up and down a bit this year before becoming a full time NHL'er next season...with the Flames.

Treliving stated yesterday on the Fan (and I'm paraphrasing) that "training camp and preseason is different for the vets than it is for the young guys".
After listening to Treliving and Hartley's interviews the past couple days, noting that Jones and Setoguchi were the extra forwards, acknowledging that we have a GM that believes and has stated numerous times that a prospect cannot be damaged by an extra day, week, month or couple months in the AHL and a little common sense, I am convinced that the Jones, Setoguchis and Widemans of the Flames are on notice and it's only a matter of time for Granlund, Ferland, Baertschi, Wotherspoon, et al.
The stupid focus on "never given, always earned" as ONLY being inclusive of camp and preseason has resulted in people panicking that the roster is set, evaluations are over and anyone over the age of 25 (some would prefer that number to be 20) can settle in for a comfort-filled season of job security. It's just not true. Let's enjoy Johnny Gaudreau's start to his first season and wait until the Flames have 20-30 games in.

When he has the puck, he's fine. It's when we doesn't, that's where he needs to work. When the puck comes around the boards, getting it out. The little things are what he needs to work on.
His attitude this year is much better than it was last year [I believe this was referring to being sent down].
FWIW.

These!
If Craig and Brad talked to Sven the same way they talked to the media then I don't think Sven has anything to worry about. Work hard for a call up, he is close.
Also, if he wants a trade work hard and light it up in Adi.
Either way, the path to a regular NHL spot is the same: work hard.
