Unfortunately, it's the comparison of an elite prospect to a good prospect. Elite prospects like Monahan, Gaudreau, Bennett have an easier time establishing themselves because their ability is obvious. Sven has to work a lot harder to show the same things they were showing, and like a 'good' prospect, will benefit from playing at a slightler lower level.
Just because he was the organization's best prospect at one point doesn't mean he will be year to year. This year, he has been supplanted, and as Calgary continues to draft better (hopefully), year to year he's going to have a harder time and will have to work that much harder.
There is no spot for him on this team, if he wants one he has to make someone expendable, even on this basement club.

Sucks for Sven, but that's a fantastic problem to have. A problem most of us have wished the organization would have had a long time ago.
