Lol, nice way of saying that. After Eager got concussed a couple years ago they tried to use a middleweight, Mike Brown for quite a while and teams ran around on them. It kind of culminated in the preseason last year as this article describes - along with the results - after this they went out and got Gadzic:

From 07-10 they used a platoon of Stortini, Jacques and Ethan Moreau and they got bullied badly by the Derek Boogards of the league. This is from 2009/10 when they decided to go with an energy player/middleweight instead of carrying a heavyweight (that's the nicest description I'll ever make of Zach Stortini).

I can think of tonnes of other incidents, Taylor Hall having to step up and fight Derek Dorsett and screwing up his leg etc. They had MacIntyre on and off but really tried the team toughness approach for quite a few years and failed pretty badly at protecting their younger players from injury.
