I alluded to this in another thread, but why do people assume that the "merit" is only accumulated in the month of September?

IMO past accomplishments and future projections based on past accomplishments warrant merit as well. It's great that some young players outplayed some vets, but it has always been the case that they need to do more than just that to cancel out the goodwill merit accumulated by some vets.

It also has to be what is best for the players and their development, which should supersede simple performance earned merit in camp.
