You know what I would like to see, is the ability of a team to declare a rebuild to the league. Then a portion of the league minimum would be waived for a period of 2 years. I'm thinking $5-$7m per season. This would allow more room for younger players who, like Jooris who are hungrier to make the big league than some bum who's been in the league for 10 years who just mails it in for 82 games because he knows he has a spot due to the team needing to get to the minimum. I think rebuilding teams are just as well served by brining in the younger, hungrier guys than fielding an unexciting team, does nothing for the viewers and season ticket holders.

Just to make sure teams don't abuse this rule it would only be allowed for a period of 2 years over a15 year span. Without this part ofthe rule Edmonton would always take advantage of it!

Can't see the union going for this as it is controlled by the older guys who will want to save their jobs.
