Diaz gives the Wotherspoon's and Seiloff's a little breathing room this season. Not that Wotherspoon needs it, he is more than ready I think. I don't remember if it was Hartley or whoever that said it but I agreed and really liked when it was said "Some kids find their game in the NHL and not the AHL, and I think Tyler is one of those kids". I really do think Wotherpoon is a top 3 D man for the Flames in the very near future. But right now, Wotherspoon needs some time in Adirondak to get up to speed. Diaz is a suitable alternative until then.
Seiloff I think can be a serviceable bottom pairing D man right now in the NHL, but his room for growth after missing all of last season can be better with a season in the AHL.
