This is exactly the type of thing a rebuilding team in our situation should do. Elliott seems to be about as good offensively as Diaz. Diaz looked somewhat bad defensively, and I'm sure Elliott is also not particularly good defensively. The difference is that there's potential for change in Elliott where Diaz is basically a finished product.
If Elliott blows, ride out the contract and get someone else in there. It's the same type of move that we did with Colborne and Russell last and in each case they have proven to be decent players for us thus far.
