Does it have the Linksys firmware on it? If so, I'd suggest re-flashing using the DD-WRT firmware.

Offers way more capabilities, and runs extremely stable.
Although, that is a pretty old router now, and the newer ones on the cheaper scale would still be quite better than the old WRT54G series of routers.
