I don't like this women/men dynamic. The bag should not occupy a seat period. And if it does, it should be removed for a man or a woman. A guy should also be able to ask another guy to move his bag so he could sit down.

Now if you (a guy) are standing with a woman and a seat opens up as someone gets off the bus, sure! offer that empty seat to her. But if you're a guy already sitting you shouldn't get up to give just a woman a seat. It's your seat.
