Didn't catch the game, which normally wouldn't bother me.. Except I had two different friends who are both Canuck fans text me about the Sam Bennett Show that was currently underway. One said the van announcer was comparing him to Bure's debut and acknowledging the fact he was an awesome force tonight. Both admitted Lack was the life raft that brought it home for the Canucks.
As much as I want to be excited and (selfishly) watch Bennett tear it up this year, if there is even a shadow of a doubt regarding his physical readiness he needs to be back in junior. With his style of play and obvious hunger to not only aggressively perform (that's what she said) but also impress fans/teammates I don't even want to consider the long term consequences of a serious injury. With Gaudreau quietly putting management in a position where they will look incompetent by sending him down, you'd have to think the focus of the club will be heavy physical presence with no question marks throughout the rest of the roster.
Still can't wait to see how these next two seasons play out (I will eat my pubes if we finish below Edmonton in the following season- I have faith we will be on the upswing with serious momentum by then). What a great time to be a Flames fan.
