Default Flames 1 v. Divers 3

Not to be repetitive. But was at the game and here are my thoughts.

Overall we were the better team. Score definitely was not indicative. Their first two goals were cheesy.

Brodie/Gio were by far the best players on the ice. Hit the freakin net tho Gio. He knows it. Little rusty but honestly they were men among boys out there.

Monahan looked fantastic barring two bone headed giveaways. Literally tape to tape passes to a Canuck player, one of which led to a goal I believe. Looks poised, smarter, stronger. Was worried about sophomore slump but can't see it.

Agostino continues to look good IMO. Simple straight line player with upside could slot in well as 3rd line winger if he pans out.

Ferland made a few nice plays, doesn't look out of place, but nothing too notable.

Cundari is a great skater and decently good IQ but overpowered in d zone and occasional brain farts. I actually like him but don't think there's room given other undersized mobile d-men who are better.

Wideman is a bit of a clown...for example falling to his knees for no reason and then making a great play to recover. Can't really figure him out tbh. Seems to always recover somehow but awkward as hell haha.

Sven, made some incredible passes that weren't capitalized on. Like grade A scoring chances. I really think he has great playmaking ability. Noticeably stronger, finishing his checks and back checking harder. But then there were long stretches when I didn't even notice him...I thought he was hurt and not playing at one point. Wouldn't be surprised if he started on the big club. Seems to be trying harder.

Bennett honestly, he outperformed my expectations. He was noticeable almost every time on the ice. He got an ovation at one point after a particularly good shift. He's fast, relentless, has moves, takes the puck to the net and has a great shot. Needs to bulk up and be a bit smarter with puck in neutral zone/d-zone.

Culkin didn't look out of place.

Diaz has flashes but makes me think of MA Bergeron. Has skill but undersized and one-dimensional.

Hiller looked fine. Didn't face too many shots and the goals he let in were kind of weird. Do didn't read too much into the game for him. The Canucks had 4 shots in the first period he must have been bored as hell.

Arnold, didn't notice him too much to the positive. Had a few plays that I noticed he looked out of the flow. But I personally really like him and have hopes for him to be our future 3rd line C. Clearly needs to spend time in Addy.

The vets, Bouma had a decent game, guy is consistent. Missed his penalty shot early tho. Stajan, I don't even remember him touching the puck. Seto noticed him back checking hard a few times...that's about it. Bollig not much to say.

Overall we were the better team and were pretty snakebit. Would like to see more physicality but that'll probably come in reg season. Disappointed nobody taught Corrado a lesson.

EDIT: Apparently I had a few dome foams tonight because this post is ridiculously long, apologies, I am so pumped about the team this year!
