Quite frankly, you have no idea what the intent behind the caption was; it may not have been motivated by any racial prejudice, but it absolutely WAS racial by virtue of the fact that the player was identified by his visibly racial features.

It is not your place to inform anyone about how sensitive or "politically correct" they ought or ought not be. Glossed over in this is the reality that there are MANY people who ARE sensitive to this issue—enough so that that in itself warrants a high level of attention to the language that we use and how we use it.
