That's changing the material, I meant how the phone is built.
I'm pretty sure they use an alloy already, but as you say they can use different alloys. Problem is when you change one property you also change others.. so the metal might be less malleable but then becomes more brittle. Doesn't bend in the pocket, but fractures like plastic when dropped, etc.
Could also make it more rigid by using internal structures, but given the limited space inside that's probably not possible.
I wonder if turning the glass towards the leg would make a difference.
