Who has it in their head? Metal is stronger but once bent beyond a certain point won't bend back. Plastic is weaker and will snap when bent beyond a certain point but is more pliable. That'd be one of the things I'd be looking at depending on how I used my phone.

I don't think Apple ever said the phone was the best designed phone money can buy, and even if they did they said it was the best designed phone, not that it was the strongest 4.7" piece of matter possible.
Bent aluminium phones isn't new at all. People bent their HTCs. People bent their Lumias.
