Brad Treliving's father is very well off, but that doesn't mean that Brad (or anyone in his position) wants to or is able to live off of handouts from their parents or just dog it until they get an inheritance. I find it insulting that people suggest that he could just do that.
I think it is often the case that money isn't the primary motivator for very successful people even if his father does pad his bank account.
