Russia doesn't play in the summer season.
Bitch & complain? That's 100+ years of leagues structuring their schedules to the fall to spring. It's not just Europe, it's global. You have early season qualifying that starts in August -- Continental cups (Europa/Champions League/Copa Libertadores/etc; ), domestic cups (FA/Copa del Rey/dfp Pokal), etc; I mentioned this in another thread, but the impact would be a massive scheduling disruption for 50 of the world's top leagues.
