Are you comparing the unsubsidized iphone price to subsidized Android phones? Outside of the One Plus One and the Nexus phones, which Android premium phones cost $500?
I maybe remembering incorrectly but the from what I can recall I think the prices are were much closer than you are suggesting.
iphone 6 - $749
iphone 6+ - $849
Samsung S5 - $699
Note 3/4 - $749-$799
HTC M8 - $700
Sony Z2/3 - $799? (I think it was 599 pounds which is like $950 CDN)
The iphones are more expensive but not $400-$500 more expensive.
If you are talking about the Nexus or One+One, then maybe you should also add Samsung, Sony and HTC to your comments.
I am only questioning your costs and not feature sets. The majority of the premium phones come with a premium price tag.
