I've been thinking of getting a new phone recently. I have 5 months left on a 3 year plan. I'm eligible for an upgrade.I'm with Virgin so my phone choice is limited.
I played around with the S5 , Nexus 5 and the xperia T3.
Sony makes a great phone . Unfortunately, tho the T3 is not really a better phone then what I already have.If I was to get a sony phone it would be the Z or ZL phablet.
The Nexus 5 feels great in the hand . I like the pure Google experience with no bloatware. The pure Google is also kinda a turn off to me as well tho now. I've been using nothing but the nexus line for the last 3 years (galaxy nexus, and nexus 4). It has not felt like I have gotten a new device. With the Nexus 6 around the corner soon maybe It might change my mind.
The s5 is intriguing to me tho. Some of the features I find neat. Like Air swipe and the eye tracking. I always do messy mechanical projects so I could really see these Features coming in hand when I need to look a procedure up.
I have until February to get an upgrade so I could always wait to see what Virgin will carry just before Christmas or in January as new phones usually pop up then.
