Kessel is a very talented player and an elite goal scorer. Full stop. He is no superstar - that is a ridiculous notion IMO.
Being in a cap world now, there is only so many big-name, big-dollar players you can have on your team. Kessel is not a leader. He is not a guy you can build your (good) team around. But he comes at the price of one.
I would not want Kessel on my team eating up that kind of cap hit and creating problems in the room (my opinion). And for that reason, there is no way I would consider him in the conversation for superstar. He's a me-first, offensive talent. The great teams always seem to have one thing in common: their best players are also their hardest working players.
Good luck winning anything, Toronto.
