No need in hockey, there's enough advertising space as is with commercials, 2 intermissions, 3-4 games a week, 82 games a year etc.
Soccer is totally different as that's a sport with no commercial stoppages, only 1 break(half time), usually 1 game a week and half as many games a season.
The revenue streams from advertising in each sport are completely different, particularly TV time.
