For those fans saying Corrado was penalized correctly I strongly disagree!
A shot like that would be a suspension in the nhl, I would say 5 games cause he is not a repeat offender. So punishment didn't fit the crime and he knew it! 5 minute major and a game misconduct in garbage time and people here think He's suffered enough?
Fact Corrado made those comments angers me more, if he did that in the nhl (he would of kept his mouth shut) otherwise risk a 15 game or more suspension. Deliberate intent, and he fully admits it! Knowing full well he can not be suspended.
Do I want Corrado to be Bertuzzied? No, fair play would be for one of our players to cheap shot him the same way. I don't want that either. I want him to answer the bell one on one with one of our tougher guys. Not the Big Ern, Not Engelland, I don't want the guy injured, just hurt!
As for the argument of nuclear deterrents and goons? I love goon on goon hockey. Two heavy weights going at it. Yet a bigger impact is made on the ice by having light heavyweights and middleweights patrolling the ice.
Once the Flames got Westgarth we played better hockey. Is it cause westgarth is such a great player, wow never thought those two words would be used in the same sentence. When Mcgrattan was in the box there was still protection on the ice. Made a big difference with confidence of our players. Look at the record in the last third of the season.
I am old lol, seen so many careers ended with cheap shots unanswered. Best way to ruin a young player is to have him be afraid on the ice. I don't think Johnny Hockey is afraid, Team has been built to protect the young guys for a couple of seasons or more.
